Pastoral Transition Information

Pastoral Transition FAQ

1. Why is Pastor Ryan leaving?

Ryan has sensed God’s leading to step into a new season of ministry where he will be helping with church planting, and pastor training in the northwest with Send Network. While transitions can be difficult, we trust the Lord’s guidance for both our pastor and our church.

2. What is happening during the transition period?

Pastor Ryan will continue serving till the end of May.
The Elders are now taking on a greater level of responsibility.
A transition calendar is being developed.
A churchwide survey will soon be distributed.
Regular ministries and gatherings are carrying on. A prayerful and intentional search for our next pastor will be taking place under the guidance of a transition team.

3. Who is leading the church right now?

Jesus Christ remains as the head of our church. Under his guidance, the Elders (and Pastor Ryan in a more limited role) are providing spiritual oversight and direction. Day-to-day ministries continue through staff and ministry leaders.

4. Will our church’s vision or doctrine change?

No. Our core beliefs and mission remain the same. A pastoral transition does not change who we are as a church. Yet, with the coming change in a Lead Pastor, we will look forward with anticipation concerning how he senses God’s plans for our future.

5. How will a new pastor be selected?

After careful prayer and assessment, the Elders will select a transition team that will meet regularly to discern God’s will in the selection of a candidate to bring before the church body for church affirmation.

This will include:

Praying for wisdom and unity
Identifying qualified candidates
Conducting interviews and vetting

6. How long will the process take?

Every transition is different, but it often takes several months, and in some cases longer. We are committed to seeking God’s timing rather than rushing the process.

7. How can I be involved in the process?

You can:

Pray regularly for wisdom and unity.
Provide input if the church invites feedback through surveys and/or questionnaires.
Encourage your church leaders, and remain engaged in church life.

8. What should I be praying for right now?

Wisdom for church leaders
Unity within the body
The soon-to-be transition team
God’s guidance in identifying a candidate that is God’s choice for us.
The O’Malley family as they transition away
Our soon to be, yet unknown, Lead Pastor and family.

9. Will ministries and programs continue?

Yes. Our ministries will continue, though there may be adjustments as needed during the transition.

10. How should we respond as a church body?

We encourage everyone to:

Stay committed and engaged
Avoid speculation or gossip
Speak with grace and truth
Trust God’s sovereignty in this process

11. What happens to church staff during this time?

Staff members will continue in their roles, providing stability and continuity in ministry.

12. Will we have an interim pastor?

Pastor Ryan will continue to serve until the end of May.

A rotation of speakers will be utilized under the direction of the Elder team. At this point in time, no Intentional Interim Pastor is being considered.

13. How will the church communicate updates?

We will provide regular updates through:

Sunday announcements
Email/Church Center app/Social media postings
Any special called church meetings

14. What if I have concerns or questions?

Please reach out to an elder or church leader. We want to listen and care well for our church family.

15. What can we be hopeful about in this season?

God is faithful to His church. This transition is not just an ending—it’s also an opportunity for growth, renewal,

and the next chapter of ministry.

16. What should I reflect on?

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Our confidence is not in a person, but in Christ, who leads His church.

“So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in HIM, rooted and built up in HIM,

being strengthened in the faith you were taught, and OVERFLOWING WITH THANKFULNESS. Colossians 2:6-7
